Curriculum Change - calling on School Boards to join the conversation

Almost all of the proposed changes to the curriculum have now been released. For some teachers, the changes are welcome, for others they are devastating. It is crucial that our communities and the decision makers have all the information about how these changes will affect teaching and learning.

PPTA is calling on School Boards to join the conversation. School Boards are made up of parents and communities who care deeply about their school. Their voice is a trusted, valued voice in the education sector.

The attached resources will help PPTA Branches to engage with their School Boards and get them to take their feedback to the Minister. This will require calling a Branch meeting, holding a vote to support this idea, and gathering the feedback of your branch about the curriculum changes. It will involve working with your teacher representative on the Board and the Principal.

To help you with this organising mahi, we have developed some advice for Branch Chairs and a PowerPoint to use when holding a branch meeting. They linked at the top of the page. If you want help to run this process, you can contact your field officer. Find their contact details here
