Support Movember at your school
This year, the PPTA Men’s Network is supporting Movember and encouraging schools to raise awareness, start conversations and fundraise for men’s health.
Visit Movember schools hub for guidance, an assembly presentation and fundraising resources.
Activity ideas for schools
1. Start a school team — Grow together: Invite staff, students, whānau and alumni to join a school Movember team and set a shared fundraising goal.
2. Launch with an assembly — Start the kōrero: Introduce Movember, explain the men’s health causes it supports, and share how your school will take part.
3. Host a shave-down or Mo reveal — Make it visible: Hold a before-and-after event with participants, sponsorship and a celebration at the end of the month.
4. Move for Movember — Get active: Run a walking, running, cycling or sports challenge for staff and students, with teams tracking progress across November.
5. Run a men’s health quiz — Learn together: Host a lunchtime or evening trivia event featuring age-appropriate wellbeing and men’s health questions.
6. Create a staff-room challenge — Build connection: Use a moustache wall, photo competition, bake sale or dress-up day to spark conversations and donations.
7. Hold a wellbeing check-in — Connect and listen: Give staff a structured opportunity to check in with colleagues and share trusted support pathways.
8. Invite a guest speaker — Bring in expertise: Ask a suitable local health professional or community organisation to speak about men’s wellbeing and help-seeking.
9. Showcase student creativity — Use the arts: Invite posters, videos, music, writing or visual art that promotes healthy conversations and positive help-seeking.
10. Finish with a community event — Celebrate the impact: Bring the school community together to share results, thank participants and keep the wellbeing conversation going.
Choose activities that suit your school context, safeguarding requirements and student age groups. Participation should always be voluntary and inclusive.
