Women’s Committee - Call for Nominations

Would you like to be a member of PPTA’s Women’s Committee, Executive is seeking expressions of interest from members who would like to fill one vacancy on the Women’s Committee. This is a two-year term from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2026.

What does the women's committee do?

The Women’s Committee is the national committee of the Women’s Network. It was established after the 2020 PPTA Women in Leadership Summit to lead the agenda for change. The Committee:

  • Acts as the advisory committee for the work that needs to be done to reduce gender inequities.
  • Sets the strategic direction for the PPTA Women’s Network.
  • Provides direction and support for our regional and branch structures.
  • Aims to represent the diversity of the PPTA membership.

The Women’s Committee is made up of 7 members – 4 general members, 1 person from the Pasifika roll, 1 person who is a Principal, and a representative from each of the Executive and Te Huarahi Māori Motuhake. The Committee is also supported by 2 PPTA staff members – an Advisory Office and a Field Officer.

What do I need to be a women's committee member?

  • Be a member of the PPTA.
  • Identify as a woman. PPTA and the women’s Committee acknowledge that this is inclusive of cis- and trans-women, as well as gender diverse and non-binary people.
  • Be able to get release from your school to attend meetings of the Women’s Committee. These are typically once a term, in Wellington or online. All travel and relief costs are covered by the PPTA.
  • To have an interest and understanding of women’s issues, and a motivation for advocacy and representation of these issues.

The PPTA President and General Secretary have been delegated by the Executive to assess the self-nomination forms and select the persons who can make the best contribution to the work of the Committee.

Members wishing to be considered for the Women’s Committee should complete the self-nomination form by 5pm on Monday 25 November 2024.
