Teachers’ Refresher Course Committee (TRCC) representatives needed
The TRCC was established in 1946 to organise professional learning and development (PLD) “for teachers by teachers”. This PLD is generally three day residential courses in the school holidays. Some of the courses are organised in conjunction with subject or professional associations, while for others there is a course committee set up especially for the purpose. Courses target either teachers in a particular sector, or teachers across the sectors.
The Committee is made up of representatives from PPTA (three), NZEI (three for primary and three for early childhood) and TEU (three), plus one Playcentre Federation representative.
The Committee meets in Wellington, at its offices in Newlands. Meetings are from 4 to 5.30 pm on a Thursday afternoon, and take place at the moment every two or three weeks.
TRCC Committee member responsibilities
• Membership of PPTA.
• Availability to attend regular meetings in Wellington after school. (This indicates that you probably need to live in the Wellington, Kapiti Coast, or Hutt Valley regions, but if you live further afield than that, please indicate how you would be able to attend.)

• Willingness to contribute to discussion by email between meetings.
The President and General Secretary will assess the self-nomination forms and choose the most suitable representatives. Their decision-making will take into account such factors as relevant experience, likely contribution, etc.
