About the Network

PPTA’s Network of Establishing Teachers (NET) is a source of support for beginning teachers.

NET is for teachers in their first 10 years teaching in New Zealand who are in the process of establishing themselves in the profession.

The network was originally established by PPTA at its annual conference in 2000 and has the following goals.

• To provide a support network for young and new teachers.
• To establish national and regional networks of young and new teachers.
• To nurture activism.
• To support recruitment and retention initiatives.

NET is represented by a committee that is highly active in the PPTA, meeting regularly, and advancing the concerns of beginning teachers at a national level.
